Ferrari's Dirty Little Secret and Porsche Connection

Ferrari, The big man himself ENZO ferrari as you know used to drive alfa romeo's as a youngster wasn't a great driver, alfa was world champion back then with the formula cars, supercharged cars in the 30's 40's etc. Audi and Mercedes were the main competition in terms of racing.

Alfa romeo was on the German BOMB roster during wwII when Hitler and Mussilini were not playing nice. It seems that alfa was building  airplane motors for the italian air force......meanwhile Ferrari's hero was a famous Italian Pilot who shot down dozens of German figher planes, the german planes were from stuttgard Germany and had the Black Prancing Horse on the side of the planes, so Ferrari Being a fan of the famous italian pilot "stole the horse, which the italian pilot had stolen from the germans", you see...the italian pilot was sporting the black prancing Stuttgard horse on his italian airplane, sort of to brag about his victory's, sort of as a trophy if you'd like.....

Ferrari took the liberty of adding a yellow shield as a back drop for the prancing German Stuttgard horse and he painted his yellow/horse shields on all the early Racing Alfa Romeo's. So alfa romeo were the first cars EVER to use the Ferrari black prancing horse..

when the germans killed alfa's Factory during the war, Ferrari went to work and gathered all sorts of parts from the Alfa Romeo Racing Parts Warehouse and put together his first Ferrari using 80% alfa parts including engine/heads/running gear/brakes etc. he even modified an alfa BODY and called it his own....

Since alfa was out of comission for a few years rebuilding, Ferrari was in a perfect position to Violate his NON compete agreement and start building his own race cars.......

So as far as I'm concerened ALL modern Ferrari's ARE alfa Romeo's or should be. If it wasn't for the war, ferrari would have never had the opportunity to take advantage of alfa or RIP them off...so alfa would've continued R&D'ing the Formula Race Cars and today alfa romeo would be the ONLY dominance in Formula ONE racing.
